  • Liverpool have pooled Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam, Serie A side Napoli and returnees Rangers in Group A of the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League
  • The Reds, who will be targeting a seventh European success, will hope 'lady luck' smiles at them with the finals being staged at the famous Atatürk Olympic Stadium - where Liverpool recorded one of the greatest comebacks in the history of the competition
  • Jurgen Klopp's charges fell short of winning the Champions League after losing narrowly to record-holders Real Madrid

Liverpool have been handed a fairly manageable group after the six-time Champions were pitted in Group A along with Dutch champions Ajax, Serie A outfit Napoli and Rangers from Scotland.

The Reds will be aiming to go a step further after losing narrowly to Spanish giants Real Madrid in the finals last season - inadvertently missing out on the elusive quadruple.

Jurgen Klopp's charges have not begun the campaign on a bright note - drawing twice and losing against bitterest rivals Manchester United last Monday.

Ajax Amsterdam on the hand have had a perfect start to the Dutch Eredivisie, winning all three matches and sitting pretty at the summit of the league log.

Just like Ajax, Napoli have a 100 per cent start to the Italian Serie A scoring an eyewatering 9 goals in their opening two games and sharing the top spot with Inter Milan and AS Roma, all on six points.

Rangers have had a Hollywood-esque approach to their return to the Champions League. After missing out on an automatic spot via the Europa League path, the Glasgow-based side stunned PSV Eindhoven to reach the group stages for the first time in over a decade.

The Reds' European campaign is scheduled to start on September 6-7, with the rest of the matches taking place on September 13-14, October 4-5, October 11-12, October 25-26 and November 1-2.

UEFA Champions League draw in full as English clubs handed fairly tough groups

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Premier League teams competing in the UEFA Champions League this season have learned about their opponents in the group stages.

The English top-flight has four representatives in the elite competition, including Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool have been pooled in Group A alongside Dutch giants Ajax, Napoli, and Rangers, who sealed their qualification via a playoff.
