French attacker Nabil Fekir has recalled his failed move to Premier League outfit Liverpool in the summer of 2018.

Fekir, 29, was a top transfer target for Liverpool following the departure of talisman Philippe Coutinho to Spanish giants FC Barcelona.

The deal was almost done with the Reds agreeing to secure the services of the 2018 World Cup winner at a fee of £48.4million with a further £4.4 million in bonuses.

However, Nabil Fekir's dream move to the Premier League on the back of a stellar campaign with Olympique Lyon will hit the snag and despite moving on to new pastures at Real Betis, Fekir is still hurt his Liverpool transfer failed to materialize.

"Everything was closed. I passed all the interviews, I spoke with Jurgen Klopp, and he told me that he loved me. We all did it and, when we were about to sign, there were problems with my representative and the negotiation broke down." Fekir told Movistar+ as quoted by LFC Transfer Room.
He continued: "Of course, I was disappointed not to go to Liverpool, very disappointed because Liverpool are a great club. I met the coach, Jurgen Klopp, and it went well."
"After meeting him, I wanted to join Liverpool even more. He’s a good person. It was really difficult to deal with as I really wanted to go to Liverpool. It was a moment that was not easy for me."

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Nabil Fekir who plays as a forward for La Liga club Real Betis and the France national team could be on his way to Barcelona in the summer as the Catalans are reportedly preparing €60m to sign him.

Since Nabil Fekir moved to Real Betis in 2019 from Lyon, the 28-year-old has been impressive in the Spanish La Liga netting 19 goals so far in impressive outings for the Frenchman.

His brilliant performances in the Spanish La Liga for Real Betis is said to have caught the attention of those in charge at Barcelona who want to lure him to Camp Nou at the end of the ongoing League season.
