Father's Day might have elapsed but Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez is still expressing his fatherly love to his son.

The former Benfica marksman finished the Portuguese season as the top scorer with an eye-catching 26 goals in 28 games and managed to impressively bag six goals in 10 Champions League games.

Nunez was presented with his top scorer award, known as Bola de Prata after he switched the Portuguese top-flight for the English Premier League.

And the now Liverpool striker took to social media to celebrate his feat with his adorable son.

In a photo shared on Twitter, seen by Sports Brief, Nunez presented his Portuguese top scorer award to his son in a touching moment of father-and-son bonding.

Since completing his £64million move from Benfica to Liverpool, Darwin has been putting himself through the paces in the offseason holidays as he gears up for the upcoming campaign.

The 23-year-old Uruguayan would hope to hit the ground running when Liverpool begins their preseason preparations ahead of the new season.

He is expected to form a formidable partnership with club talisman Mohamed Salah and fleet-footed Colombian attacker Luis Diaz following the departure of Senegalese ace Sadio Mane.

New details have emerged of how new Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez almost quit football at the age of 17.

Nunez has benefitted from a stellar campaign with Benfica and will now be competing in one of the most lucrative leagues in the world next season.

But before all the stardom, Nunez had to deal with career-threatening injuries during his formative years. He was part of Jose Perdomo’s Penarol youth team.

Darwin Nunez completes move to Liverpool

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Liverpool have completed the signing of striker Darwin Nunez from Benfica for an initial fee of £64m.

The fee could potentially rise to £85m if a number of milestones are fulfilled which would make the striker a record signing for the Merseyside club, surpassing £75m paid to sign centre-back Virgil van Dijk in 2018.

An official announcement was made by Liverpool on the evening of Tuesday, June 14.
