Thiago Alcantara's piledriver for Liverpool against Porto has been voted Champions League Goal of the Season.

The Spain international's goal came at Anfield on November 25, 2021 in a group game encounter against the Portuguese champions.

Thiago opened the scoring in the 52nd minute when he rifled in a sublime first-time strike from 25 yards out.

Mohamed Salah made sure Liverpool claim the three maximum point with a stylish turn and shot from the right to secure a 2-0 victory.

But it was Thiago's goal that were selected by UEFA's Technical Observer panel among the top ten goals of the 2021/22 competition, and then put to a vote.

The former Bayern Munich midfielder unleashed a half-volley of the highest quality through the sea of legs and it was in the back of the net before you could brink.

Karim Benzema's powerful header for Real Madrid at Chelsea in the quarter-finals topped the expert list but was pushed into fourth among supporters.

Lionel Messi's first goal for Paris Saint-Germain against Manchester City and Alex Telles's volley for Manchester United against Villarreal complete the top five.

UEFA's Technical Observer panel has selected its 2021/22 UEFA Champions League Team of the Season with some conspicuous names excluded.

As expected, players of Real Madrid and Liverpool - who made the finals of this season's Champions League finals- dominate the Team of the Season.

Regular names such as Paris Saint-Germain's Neymar and Lionel Messi as well as Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane were all exempted in this season's Champions League Team of the Season.

Karim Benzema Emerges As the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League Player of the Season

Sports Brief earlier reported that UEFA's Technical Observer panel have named Real Madrid's Karim Benzema as the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League Player of the Season.

The 34-year-old was phenomenal in the course of the just-concluded season inspiring Los Blancos to a record 14th Champions League title and his fifth since moving from Lyon in 2009.

He found the back of the net 15 times in the Champions League which eventually earned him top spot in the competition scoring charts.
