Former England international Micah Richards ranked Mohammed Salah as the best African player in the history of the Premier League.

Richards, who currently works as a pundit, chose Salah ahead of a list of high profile Africans to have graced the English top flight.

Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Mohamed Salah has been impregnable and arguably the best performer in the Premier League.

The 29-year-old forward has torn records into shreds while winning individual accolades amid Premier League, Carabao Cup, UEFA Champions League and Club World Cup success.

Having won the Premier League top scorer's award on two occasions in his five seasons at Liverpool, Salah is currently leading the top scorer's chart this season with 20 goals and could scoop home the Golden Boot award this campaign.

Ranking his best African players in the history of the Premier League, Micah Richards placed Salah at the top of the pile ahead of Ivorian superstars Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure.

He chose Salah's teammate at Liverpool, Sadio Mane, in the fourth position while Algeria's Riyad Mahrez and Ghana's Michael Essien continued in that fashion.

Aubameyang, Nigeria's Jay-Jay Okocha, Emmanuel Adebayor and Nwankwo Kanu complete his top ten African best players to have plied their trade in the Premier League.

Egypt's Sports Minister discloses Salah's readiness to extend his stay at Liverpool

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Egypt's Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi has revealed Mohamed Salah intends to ink his signature to a new deal at Liverpool.

Salah and Liverpool have been embroiled in a protracted contract extension deal with no headway made yet despite the fact that both parties need each other now and surely in the future.

Taking the contract stall between the two parties, top clubs including Barcelona have been rumoured to be lurking around the Egyptian but it appears any move away from England has hit a snag.
