Former Liverpool player, Andriy Voronin says he can no longer work in a country that was bombing his homeland and has decided to quit his job with Russian Club, Dynamo Moscow.

Voronin who hails from Ukraine had been an assistant manager of the Russian club since 2022 and led the team to a seventh-place finish in his first season with the club.

According to a report via This Is Anfield, Dynamo Moscow confirmed the news of Voronin’s departure on Tuesday, March 1st.

Voronin fled Moscow for Germany last week and has previously stated that the people of Ukraine will keep fighting until they get victory.

“I could no longer work in the country that is bombing my homeland.

“I’m so proud of our country. We have beautiful cities, great people.

“We will keep fighting. And we will win. But the price is so high. All the dead…”

Sports Federations continue to ban Russia from its competitions

Meanwhile, Russia is receiving heavy backlash from the sporting world following its invasion of Ukraine by the country’s military forces.

According to a report via Aljazeera, The International Olympic Committee has urged sports federations and organizers to exclude Russian athletes and officials from international events.

This follows the recent ban by FIFA and UEFA who have excluded all Russian national and clubs teams from their competitions until further notice.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Lokomotiv Moscow have been dealt a huge blow following a decision by their manager, Markus Gisdol, to resign over Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The German tactician has spent the better part of his coaching career with clubs in his homeland.

However, he landed a managerial role with Lokomotiv Moscow back in October 2021, earning him a move out of his country.
