Although, Liverpool were said to have offered Bobby Adekanye a new deal but the striker turned down the offer for first team football away from Anfield.

The forward said: "I expected that I would get a chance at Liverpool sooner. Before I came, we talked about it. They said that if I had a good first season, I had a good chance of joining the first team," he told Voetbalzone.nl.

"Due to injury, that did not come true. I had to undergo surgery at the start of my second season and then it is difficult to return."

Legit.ng earlier reported that Liverpool have won the race to seal a deal for Dutch youngster Sepp van den Berg in the coming days.

The Telegraph reports that the 17-year-old defender is expected to undergo routine medical test on Wednesday, June 26 ahead of a £1.79 million move.

At the last count, Bayern Munich and Ajax were keen on landing Van Den Berg, but Liverpool chiefs were able to convince the Dutch under-19 international to seal a switch to Anfield from PEC Zwolle.
