Currently, only six points separate the five sides at the bottom of the table. Newcastle United’s recent upturn in form has seen them drag Leeds United and Everton into the fight and Leicester could be next.

The Foxes are defending FA Cup champions, but their form in the Premier League has been poor. Leicester are currently in 13th place but are only six points clear of their hosts, Burnley.

The last encounter between Burnley and Leicester City ended in a draw

Jamie Vardy scored three times during the last meeting between the two sides, as they drew 2-2. Vardy opened the scoring for Burnley but redeemed himself by netting twice for The Foxes. Maxwel Cornet scored Burnley’s goal as the two teams could not be separated.

As Sky Sports reported, Maxwel Cornet could feature against Leicester City, but the player is still nursing a slight ankle concern.

Leicester City though will be buoyed by the return of Jamie Vardy to the squad. Vardy has not played for Leicester since December 2021, after picking up a hamstring injury, Lancs Live reported.

Premier League’s top 4 race heats up as Tottenham record an emphatic win against Leeds United at Elland Road

While the relegation battle is starting to heat up, so is the battle at the top of the Premier League. Tottenham reignited their top-four chances on Saturday afternoon following their sensational performance at the Elland Road, winning 4-0.

Matt Doherty, Dejan Kulusevski and Harry Kane all scored in the first half to earn Antonio Conte's side all three points to keep their top-four hopes alive. Heung-min Son also grabbed a goal late in the encounter to take Spurs to 7th position with 42 points, but they have one game in hand.

But the visitors had to fight from the start of the game and in the 3rd minute, Daniel James was brought down just outside the left of the penalty area. The resulting free-kick was whipped in and Pascal Struijk's glancing header just goes past the post, Sports Brief reported.
