  • Arthur Zwane is not one to be known to engage in a war of words with the critics
  • However, the Kaizer Chiefs coach is going against the grain with one vocal skeptic
  • 'Mangethe' has fired back at the outspoken, popular and divisive Junior Khanye

Popular but divisive critic, Junior Khanye has been an outspoken skeptic when it comes to the work of Arthur Zwane at Kaizer Chiefs.

He has not been convinced when it comes to Mangethe's work at the Amakhosi as they try to claim silverware for the first time in eight years.

The usually calm Zwane has decided to uncharacteristically fire back for once.

According to the Sunday World, Zwane shot back at his harsh critic by saying:

“Critics are part of the game, it’s his opinion. I respect his opinion as a former player. By the way, who am I to go down to the level of Junior Khanye? This is football, I respect everyone, that is his opinion and I love it.”

FarPost reported that the annoyed Zwane was speaking at the draw for the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals at SuperSport's studios in Randburg.

Kaizer Chiefs was drawn away to their nemesis, Royal AM, who they have only ever beaten once. Incidentally, that win was earlier this season.

Baloyi: Chiefs should fire Zwane

Sports Brief also reported on club legend, Brian Baloyi making it bluntly clear what he thinks about Zwane as Kaizer Chiefs coach.

The former goalkeeper believes that under normal circumstances, Mangethe would have been shown the door by management.

This comes amid the team's ropey performances and crucial wins over Orlando Pirates, Richards Bay FC, and Casric Stars.

Chiefs and Nedbank Cup draw

Sports Brief also reported on the last eight teams for the 2023 Nedbank Cup having been confirmed, with teams finding out who they will take on.

The draw has decided the fate of defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns and other league powerhouses like Chiefs, Royal AM, and Pirates.

In an unusual turn of events, there are far fewer lower-division outfits this time in the quarter-finals of the competition than in previous seasons.
