  • La Masia player Ayanda Rorwana is recovering after suffering wounds in a stabbing attack last Saturday
  • Rorwana came into prominence after debuting for Kaizer Chiefs at DStv Diski Challenge
  • The incident reportedly happened outside a venue where he and his friends were staying

A source told The Citizen:

“It was bad. He suffered wounds that needed stitches to his nose and face after the stabbing. What happened is that he was with friends in some place in Rockville. Trouble started when he went to get something from the car and found an unknown guy sitting in the car.
“Apparently they had left the car unlocked. He went and got his friends and they tried to get the guy out of the car. But he resisted and a fight broke out and the guy took out a knife and stabbed Ayanda.”

“That is where they tried to get into the hospital and said they wanted to deal with him but they were stopped by the security guards."

After breaking into the first team at the Amakhosi, Rorwana was loaned out to Swallows FC. After bouncing to Pretoria Callies, he moved to La Masia at the beginning of the 2022/23 Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Kaizer Chiefs accused of nepotism for the appointment of Motaung family members in key positions

Kaizer Chiefs has come in for criticism for what has been described as nepotism as the club goes nowhere fast.

As reported by Sports Brief, the Amakhosi have gone seven years without any silverware, the longest the "cup kings of South Africa" have not lifted a trophy since inception in 2015. The side is also experiencing an unsatisfactory start to the new season under the tutelage of Arthur Zwane, lying above the relegation zone on the DStv Premiership league table in 14th place.

Addressing this, an uncompromising Herman Gibbs wrote on IOL:

"For many years, Chiefs earned the title of aristocrats of South African football, but its relevance pales into insignificance these days because the club has not won a trophy in seven years. Arthur Zwane was handed the coach’s position by the Chiefs hierarchy, which includes team manager Bobby Motaung and sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr."
