Ex Bafana Defender Matthew Booth Praises Kaizer Chiefs Signings, but Expects More Mamelodi Sundowns Domination

• As much as they might have had an impressive time on the transfer market, Kaizer Chiefs won't be catching Mamelodi Sundowns any time soon
• This is the opinion of former Sundowns and Bafana Bafana defender Matthew Booth when asked if the Amakhosi could catch the Brazilians
• Chiefs have not won a trophy since 2015, while Sundowns have won the last five league titles on top of a Treble last season

Kaizer Chiefs did very well on the transfer market, but this won't end Mamelodi Sundowns' dominance of the South African landscape quite yet.

This is the opinion of former Sundowns and Bafana Bafana defender Matthew Booth. He, however, expects the Amakhosi to challenge Sundowns properly next season as the latter prepares to defend its Treble (DStv Premiersh, MTN 8 and Nedbank Cup).

Booth said to The Citizen:

“Kaizer Chiefs did well in the market last season and I think they have done even better in this period and I can see that the gap is not going to be that extensive. Financially, Sundowns have got a massive advantage on the rest of the 15 teams and I think they’ll continue to dominate if they keep the core of the team and make very clever additions in areas that are needed.

"I still see Sundowns being dominant because Chiefs have got a long way to re-establish the competitiveness in the league."

In other news, The Citizen also reported that Chiefs had been offered the opportunity to strengthen their squad next season by acquiring Mozambican player Luis Miquissone. He is currently on the books of Al Ahly, but is believed to not be part of the new coach Ricardo Soares’ plans.

Victor Letsoalo encouraged to leave Royal AM As rumours surface that the striker requested his release

Victor Lesoalo has been encouraged to leave Royal AM before the new season.

As reported by Sports Brief, the striker has attracted interest from both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates but is still contracted to Shauwn Mkhize’s side.

The player has now been encouraged by a former Kaizer Chiefs striker Fees Moloi to leave the KwaZulu-Natal club.
