  • After seven years of not having won a single official trophy, South Africa's supposed "cup kings" Kaizer Chiefs have to set things right
  • The club's marketing director Jessica Motaung has promised that the senior team will make it a point of competing strongly on all fronts
  • The Amakhosi have been busy on the transfer market since the end of the season, releasing a large portion of an underperforming squad and signing quality replacements

Kaizer Chiefs marketing director Jessica Motaung has made it clear that the team will be competing fiercely on all fronts in the 2022/23 season.

The Amakhosi have remained cupless since 2015, the club's longest run without silverware since being established in 1970. They have had to watch on as Mamelodi Sundowns thoroughly dominates the South African football landscape, earning themselves the unofficial title of "cup kings" which Chiefs once bestowed upon themselves.

According to SowetanLIVE, Motaung said:

“Our target is success, success at all levels and that’s very key, hence the work that you see being done at the technical level and the management level and at the brand level. So that’s certainly one of the things we are aiming for and to our competitors, we will compete fiercely with them. That's key.

The club has been undergoing a monumental facelift in building a squad that can mount a challenge on Sundowns, with FARPost reporting that the club had released 12 players since the end of last season.

Long-time club servant Arthur Zwane was appointed as the permanent head coach after filling in the role of caretaker when Stuart Baxter was sacked earlier in the year.

Kaizer Chiefs’ new strength and conditioning coach Muzi Maluleke is the true embodiment of strength

The Amakhosi have unveiled Muzi Maluleke as their new strength and conditioning coach.

As reported by Sports Brief, Maluleke holds a Master’s Degree in Sports Science from the University of Pretoria and previously served as the strength and conditioning coach for AmaTuks.

Maluleke is credited with bringing changes to the fitness regime at AmaTuks which helped boost the club to a second-place finish in the GladAfrica Championship side.
