Mduduzi Shabalala is back in South Africa but still reflecting on his amazing time in Spain.

The Kaizer Chiefs youngster recently returned to Mzansi after undergoing trials with Villarreal.

Shabalal first spent time in Belgium before moving to the La Liga side where he is said to have impressed the club.

As reported by Soccer Laduma, the youngster impressed coaches during his time at the club and got to meet fellow African stars Samuel Chekweze and Serge Aurier. He also got to watch the UEFA Champions League semi-final as Villarreal took on Liverpool.

Shabalala opened up about his experience

“I can say that I did very well and the coaches were impressed by my performances, so I can take it from there,” Shabalala said.

During his time with The Yellow Submarines, Shabalala trained with the reserve team, Goal.com reported. The reserve team plays in the third tier of Spanish football, Primera Division RFEF – Group Two.

“I trained with their second team. It was good, I performed well and they loved me. I hope they will give me a chance one day. It was also so good to see people we usually see on TV," he mentioned.

With his return to South Africa, Shabalala is hoping to finally be given a chance for the Kaizer Chiefs Premier Soccer League side. Shabalala has scored 13 goals for the DStv Diski Challenge side.

Coach Arthur Zwane is said to be a fan of giving youngsters a chance so Shabalala could soon feature for the first team if he isn’t snapped up by a European side.

Mduduzi Shabalala is inching his way closer to making his dreams come true. The Kaizer Chiefs talented youngster is currently undergoing trials with La Liga side Villareal, Sports Brief earlier reported.

Mduduzi Shabalala’s trip to Spain has been long overdue, with the player first set to head off to Barcelona after impressing at the COSAFA CUP. The Covid-19 pandemic put those dreams on hold, though.

The South African star was then invited to Belgium for assessments at KVC Westerlo, The South African reported. He was called up along with Chiefs teammate Bontle Molefe. It’s understood that Shabalala impressed during his assessment with the Belgian side.
