The Amakhosi confirmed that they had parted ways with Baxter by mutual agreement on their Twitter page.

Baxter was only 10 months into his second spell with the Amakhosi and had signed a contract till 2023. There was also an option to extend the deal by a further 2 years.

The South African now reports that Kaizer Chiefs will have to compensate Baxter for terminating his contract a season earlier.

The club are obliged to cover Baxter’s salary for the next few months as per an agreement in his contract. The figure is approximately over R3 million.

Many fans will feel that is a small price to pay to finally part ways with Baxter, who they claimed was out of touch with the club’s ambitions and style of play.

Fans have urged the club to make Arthur Zwane the new permanent man in charge of the Amakhosi.

Interesting possible candidates have emerged for the Kaizer Chiefs head coach position

Silly season has begun in earnest towards the end of the Premier Soccer League season. With sackings and appointments the order of the day, unlikely candidates are also linked to posts they usually wouldn't be.

According to SowetanLIVE, out-of-work Benni McCarthy is one of two candidates been suggested for the vacant Kaizer Chiefs head coach position after Stuart Baxter was sacked yesterday, Sports Brief reported.

The other is interim coach Arthur Zwane, who will lead the Amakhosi in their remaining seven matches of the DStv Premiership. McCarthy was fired by AmaZulu over a month ago and had already been linked to the Orlando Pirates gig where Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids are the temporary co-coaches.
