Zwane and Dillon Sheppard are in charge of the Amakhosi after Stuart Baxter was sacked by the Soweto giants following a string of disappointing results.

Speaking after the Amakhosi’s defeat to Stellenbosch FC in the DStv Premiership, Zwane said that Chiefs were ready to return to playing in the CAF Champions League, KickOff reported.

“We are desperate, very desperate to go back to Africa. We tasted that glory a little bit [last season] so we want to go back and conquer the African continent and be one of the best teams on the continent."

Kaizer Chiefs made the final of last season’s tournament but were beaten by Al Ahly. The Amakhosi failed to qualify for this season’s tournament, with Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu representing the country at the continental competition. They also face a battle to qualify for next season’s tournament, competing for second place with Royal AM, Cape Town City and Orlando Pirates.

Zwane has also been commenting on Kaizer Chief’s style of play following the loss, adding that they lacked that killer instinct, Soccer Laduma reported.

“I cannot say we are changing things, but I can say we are trying not to be predictable. When we are in attack or reach the final third entry, we should have that element of surprise, he said.”

Stuart Baxter shockingly axed by Kaizer Chiefs, string of poor results at the Amakhosi to blame for dismissal

Stuart Baxter’s reign at the Amakhosi is over. After a string of poor results and another disappointing season for the Sowetan team, Sports Brief reported that Kaizer Chiefs have decided to part ways with the Scotsman.

Soccer Laduma confirmed that Arthur Zwane and Dillion Sheppard would be in charge of the club until the end of the season. Baxter came under fire from fans after the defeat to SuperSport United, with many in the stadium asking him to leave.

Baxter hit back at fans, saying that he was the most successful coach that the club has had in the past 20 years, The South African reported. However, he admitted that if fans wanted him to leave, he would, only if that’s what management wanted.
