Itumuleng Khune proved that age is but a number as he put on a show during the DStv Compact Cup and former Kaizer Chiefs player Junior Khanye took notice.

Khanye, who now plays for Malanti Chiefs in the Swazi Premier League, often has shared his thoughts on his former club and some of the decisions they’ve made.

After watching Khune’s performances during the recent DStv Compact Cup, Khanye said that Khune proved that class is permanent, Soccer Laduma reported.

“Itumeleng Khune is one of the best goalkeepers if not the best, and not only for Kaizer Chiefs but in South Africa and I don’t understand why he is not playing under Stuart Baxter this season,” Khanye said.

As Times LIVE reported, Khune has given Baxter a lot to consider ahead of the resumption of the season as Kaizer Chiefs play in the Nedbank Cup and the DStv Premiership.

Kaizer gets their cup run underway this weekend when they take on TS Galaxy, a team that’s previously knocked them out of the Nedbank Cup.

While Khune proved that he has what it takes to be the Amakhosi’s number one keeper, he faces stiff competition from Brandon Peterson, Bruce Bvuma and Daniel Akpeyi.

The trio all performed well in goals for the Amakhosi when needed have kept Khune out of action.

Khanye added that Khune still had a lot left to give and he would love to see him in the squad for the Nedbank Cup encounter if Chiefs were serious about winning the cup.

Khune himself said that he could play for at least another 10 years and he only plans to retire when Italy’s Gianluigi Buffon did.
