  • Kaizer Chiefs could find themselves in hot water over their pursuit of Amazulu midfielder, Siyethemba Sithebe
  • Amazulu are gathering evidence to prove that Kaizer Chiefs approached their player before they were allowed to do so
  • Kaizer Chiefs were previously hit with a transfer ban by FIFA for agreeing to a deal with a player illegally

Kaizer Chiefs already have one legal case pending with the Premier Soccer League, and they soon could be in the middle of another legal battle with Amazulu and FIFA.

Kaizer Chiefs spent most of the January transfer window attempting to sign wantaway Amazulu midfielder, Siyethemba Sithebe, to the club. Sithebe has agreed to join the Amakhosi at the end of the season when his contract with the Usuthu ends.

Amazulu owner, Sandile Zungu, was unhappy with the way Chiefs approached the player and The Citizen now reports that Amazulu is taking the matter further.

According to the publication, Amazulu is gathering evidence to prove that Chiefs approached the player before they were legally allowed to do so. Sithebe entered the last six months of his contract with Amazulu and was therefore allowed to agree on terms with another team.

Zungu has before complained that Chiefs has approached their player already in December before he could negotiate with other teams.

Kaizer Chiefs have been banned before by FIFA

The Sowetan giants Kaizer Chiefs recently served another transfer ban, handed down to them by FIFA. In 2018 the Amakhosi signed Andriamirado 'Dax' Andrianarimanana from Fosa Juniors in Madagascar. The player’s former club took the matter up to FIFA, who found that Chiefs has illegally bought the player, Goal.Com reported.

Chiefs were then banned from bringing in any new players to the club as a result.

Hopeful Kaizer Chiefs fan believes the team can somehow catch Mamelodi Sundowns in DStv Premiership

The DStv Premiership title race is approaching a faster than usual conclusion, but for some, hope springs eternal. Mamelodi Sundowns last night came to within five wins of clinching a fifth consecutive league title last night after a 2-0 win over Chippa United at Loftus Versfeld.

The victory took the Brazilians up to 47 points after 20 matches, 17 points ahead of second-placed Orlando Pirates on 30, who have played a match less than them, Sports Brief earlier reported. But it's Kaizer Chiefs fans who still have hope.

As seen on Sport24, Kaizer Chiefs has played four fewer matches than Sundowns having amassed 28 points. This shortage was due to the Covid-19 outbreak at the club in December, which laid dozens of playing and non-playing staff low, as reported by News24.
