Promising Juventus midfielder Mohamed Ihattaren is reportedly contemplating retiring from football at the tender age of 19 due to depression.
Ihattaren, a Dutch international, signed for Juventus on transfer deadline day in a £5 million in the summer but was immediately loaned out to Sampdoria.
Things have not exactly gone according to plan for the teen, however, as he is yet to play a single minute of football for the Italian side.
Ihattaren, one of the most promising talents in Dutch football in recent times, struggles with bouts of depression that mainly stems from his father’s passing in 2019
According to CalcioMercato, the youngster is considering quitting the beautiful game for the sake of his mental health.
Reports further indicate that the youngster was accorded a personal assistant to help him settle in Italy but in a worrying turn of events, he hasn't been seen in Genoa since October 12.
He is believed to have returned to Netherlands on personal grounds but there have been no sightings of him in Utrecht, where he is originally from.
Dutch publication Algemeen Dagblad writes that since Ihattaren lost his father when he was just 17, things have not been the same for him and the death led to "the panels quickly shifting" .
This is because his father was described as someone who "watched over his offspring, made decisions and could be strict".
Ihattaren rose to prominence by breaking into the PSV first team aged only 17.

FootballPrior to his move to Sampdoria, however, he had not played a match since April 2021 and had to be placed on a special fitness programme.
At PSG, he played 74 times, scoring 10 goals.
Eritrea players disappear from hotel
In other news, Authorities in Uganda are investigating circumstances under which five Eritrea players disappeared from camp.
Eritrea is among the six countries taking part in the ongoing CECAFA Women's U20 Championship tournament which kicked off at the end of October.
The incident was confirmed by CECAFA who revealed police have already initiated an operation to track down the players.
