  • Paul Pogba rejoined Juventus last summer on a free transfer after six years at Manchester United
  • He was a world record transfer when he moved to Manchester United in 2016
  • Pogba is yet to make his second Juventus debut due to injury and could be set for a longer time out

Football reunions between players and their former clubs sometimes do not go as planned. For Paul Pogba, he has not had quite the top-class performance at club level since 2016 when he reunited with Manchester United.

He left Manchester United for the second time and went back to former club Juventus and has not been able to feature due to injury.

His much anticipated second debut is now off indefinitely after suffering a setback to his injury ahead of a possible return in the cup later tonight, as reported by Goal.

What happened to Pogba?

As reported by BBC, Pogba rejoined Juventus on July 11 after his contract expired at Manchester United. 15 days later he suffered a knee injury that kept him out for two months and later required surgery that kept him out of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

He was named in the matchday squad for the first time in the 2-0 loss against Monza but was an unused substitute, understandably because the Bianconeri were chasing the match and it would be too demanding to put him on.

It was believed he could play a part in the Coppa Italia match against Lazio but that won't happen as he has been ruled out by head coach Max Allegri.

Allegri rules Pogba out of action

Speaking to Juventus official website ahead of the match, he confirmed two absentees in the team, including Paul Pogba.

Apart from [Leonardo] Bonucci, the only player not available is [Paul] Pogba, who is suffering from some tightness in his flexors. It'll take a little patience, he needs to reset the motor, it'll take time,'' he said.

Man Utd fans react to Pogba's injury

Pogba was a divisive figure at Manchester United during his time, his talent was applauded but not his attitude and inconsistencies.

United got told that they’ll never make it without Pogba, they’ll regret it. We’re told the same with old man Ronaldo. Still waiting.

Since he mocked man united he has been having set back after back. He forgot which club brought him up

He hasn't played a single game in Serie A this season. I feel sorry for him but at the same time I am so proud of my club they just let him go.

Pogba upsets Allegri

Sports Brief earlier reported that Pogba upset coach Max Allegri for being spotted at an area known for extreme sports despite rehabilitating from a dangerous injury.

It was not the first time his lifestyle would be questioned amidst injury. During his time at Manchester United, he was spotted clubbing in Dubai despite being injured.

The issue did not cause much fuss between him and Allegri who will hope to have him back in the squad and ready to play soon.
