Matthijs de Ligt has taken a jibe at former club Juventus as the Dutch defender insists the Italian giants lack the ambition to succeed.

De Ligt ended his 3-year relationship with the Serie A giants this summer when he sealed a £68million move to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

According to the Daily Mail, De Ligt insisted he made a step forward by joining Bayern Munich as he says Juventus does not have the ambition to win the UEFA Champions League.

“Juventus is a great team with great players and I had a fantastic time there, but Bayern Munich has the ambition to win the Champions League and I felt like this ambition was less present at Juventus.”

Juventus has struggled following Matthijs de Ligt’s departure from the Allianz Stadium, winning just two of their seven Serie A matches this season.

Meanwhile, Juventus manager, Maximiliano Allegri is determined to turn the Serie A giants’ form around after a disastrous start to the 2022/23 season.

Allegri has no intention of resigning from his managerial post after the Bianconeri suffered a shock 1-0 loss Monza last weekend to throw the Serie A giants into crisis, SB Nation reports.

Juventus are currently 8th on the Serie A table with 10 points but the Old Lady have dropped points in 5 out of the club’s first 7 games of the season.

De Ligt pens heartfelt farewell message to Juventus

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Matthijs de Ligt has penned a heartwarming message to Juventus as he bid the Bianconerri farewell following his three-year association with the club.

De Ligt joined German giants Bayern Munich from Juventus on a five-year deal worth 70 million euros.

In a post on micro-blogging platform Twitter, de Ligt sent a heartwarming message to the fans of Juventus as he embarks on his new adventure in Germany.
