  • Juventus' sporting director has travelled to London to begin talks about a possible move of Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhaes
  • The Serie A side want Gabriel to replace Giorgio Chiellini and are willing to include either Arthur Melo, Weston McKennie or Moise Kean to convince Arsenal
  • Arsenal are looking for midfielders and strikers and could be tempted to let Gabriel go the other way to acquire a key player ahead of next season

Juventus have officially opened talks with Arsenal over a possible transfer of Gabriel Magalhaes. It is understood that Juventus’ sporting director Federico Cherubini has travelled to London to initiate talks.

The Serie A side intends to add two or three players to the deal to convince Arsenal to sell Gabriel. The Brazilian was only bought in 2020 from Lille. He has grown to become a key member of Mikel Arteta’s defence and Arsenal will need a whole lot of convincing.

Metro UK reports that Arthur Melo is one o,f the players Juventus would be willing to let go. Last week, the midfielder’s agent Federico Pastorello confirmed that Arsenal came close to signing Arthur in January.

Arthur has struggled for game time since making the switch from Barcelona. And with further reinforcements this season in Dennis Zakaria and Manuel Locatelli, the Brazilian could move out in search of playtime.

Weston McKennie is a key target for Mikel Arteta

Arsenal are also interested in Weston McKennie. The American is currently out on a long-term basis after suffering a nasty injury in the Champions League. Arteta is looking for players who can cover for the injury-prone Thomas Partey.

The Sun has previously reported that Partey is also on Juventus’ shortlist, but they would prefer to move in for Paul Pogba and Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic Savic first. Juventus could also take advantage of Arsenal looking for a striker by offering them, Moise Kean.

The former Everton striker has been in the shadows at the Old Lady. And with the arrival of Dusan Vlahovic in January, his appearances are set to be limited further.

Juventus are looking to secure Gabriel as a direct replacement for the departing Giorgio Chiellini. The long-serving Italian is ending his Juventus career at the end of the season. Arsenal, meanwhile could listen to good offers for Gabriel and promote William Saliba to the first team. Saliba has impressed in his loan stint at Marseille.

Arsenal fans rue Thomas Partey's absence in Newcastle defeat

Sports Brief earlier reported that Arsenal fans bemoaned the absence of Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey following their disappointing defeat to Newcastle United on Monday night.

The Gunners suffered a huge setback in their quest to qualify for the Champions League when they lost 2-0 to the Magpies at the St. James' Park.
