Argentina’s Lautaro Martinez smartly turned past Eric Garcia and was ready to latch onto a lofted pass when the Barcelona defender stuck out an arm to knock the ball away.

The referee headed off to the touchline monitor and while everyone was certain it would be a goal, the referee chalked it off due to Martinez being adjudged as offside during the play.

Barca Universal shared an image of the new technology in action, showing just exactly how Martinez was offside.

Inter then scored a few minutes later when Joaquín Correa rounded Marc-André ter Stegen and found the back of the net. He was also found to be offside and the goal was denied.

Çalhanoğlu then grabbed the half’s only goal just before the half-time whistle.

Çalhanoğlu strikes as Inter bounce back to sink Barca

Hakan Çalhanoğlu fired Inter Milan to a 1-0 win over Barcelona on Tuesday, which ended the Italians' recent troubles and boosted their hopes of making the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Inter headed into the Group C clash at San Siro in dreadful form, having lost five of their previous 10 matches in all competitions, but Turkey midfielder Çalhanoğlu ended the crisis talk when he lashed in the only goal of the game on the stroke of half-time.

Simone Inzaghi will also be smiling as his position as Inter coach was being discussed, before his team won a match which moves them above Barca and into second place in the group.
