Massimo Moratti, the former Inter Milan president, has come out to admit Inter Milan might have made a mistake in allowing Ivan Perisic to leave the club.

Perisic made the switch to North London in a free transfer, much to the surprise of many fans and pundits.

He has since hit the ground running at Tottenham, with Antonio Conte preferring him in the wingback position.

Moratti, while speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb, discussed how crucial Perisic was to Inter’s recent success.

“Well, certainly one thing we all pretend to forget is that Perišić was very strong. He gave us a great hand. Maybe yes, he was a little underestimated, it [allowing Perišić to leave from Inter] was a very important and heavy change.”

Perisic, 33, made 254 appearances as an Inter player, notching 55 goals and 49 assists.

There were reports that Perisic wanted a two-year contract extension at Inter, something the club was unwilling to do, prompting the switch to thee Premier League.
