Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez has laughed off ludicrous rumours that his wife left him for club teammate Romelu Lukaku.

The story broke in the Argentine press after the 25-year-old suddenly deactivated his Instagram account. These rumours elicited some chatter on Twitter which resulted in the player coming out and sweeping aside that talk.

Martinez dismisses rumours

The story, which appeared in the Argentine newspaper Ole was swiftly dismissed by Martinez, who said his Instagram account was hacked. He posted a picture with his wife, Agustina Gandolfo.

Martinez has been dating Gandolfo since 2018 and welcomed a bouncing baby girl into the world in February this year.

The Argentina international is having a slow start to the season with just three goals and an assist in eight games this season. Inter Milan narrowly lost the league title to arch-rivals AC Milan last season but have made a decent start to the season. they sit sixth in the table, just two points off the top after six games.

Sports Brief earlier reported that Martinez was committed to staying at Inter Milan following interest from top European clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea in the transfer window.

Chelsea intended to unite Martinez and Lukaku at Stamford Bridge, but the transfer never materialise. However, Lukaku would join Martinez at Inter, hoping to fire the Nerazzuri to another Scudetto.
