Legendary Ghanaian midfielder, Sulley Muntari, has broken his silence on how racism is deep-rooted in Italian football.

The former Inter and AC Milan star walked off in a game between Pescara and Cagliari in 2017 after he was booked for reporting a racist chant.

In a video posted on social media, the 37-year-old expressed disappointment with the way players of colour are treated in the Italian leagues.

"I'm beginning to feel bad as if it was yesterday that it happened," he told CNN.

"It occurred a lot. Recently, it happened even yesterday I was sitting and it happened in the stands. There was a player playing and it happened.
"I will support players protesting by going on strike and I will be number one, I will be part of it, anywhere I will go.
"The thing is I am not condemning Italy but look at England, look at how English football is. It's totally different. It's amazing. I've played there and I have never heard any chants like that," he added.

The Hearts of Oak midfielder started his career in Italy with Udinese before moving to England to play for Portsmouth. He later returned to Italy in 2008 to join Inter Milan, helping the Nerazurri's to a historic treble in 2010.

He also featured for AC Milan and Pescara in the Italian Serie A.

Sulley Muntari reveals how Jose Mourinho convinced him to join Inter Milan

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that legendary Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muntari has revealed how Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho got him to sign for Inter Milan in 2008.

Muntari, who was fresh off winning the English FA Cup with Portsmouth in 2008, did not hesitate to join Inter after he had a call from Mourinho.

According to Muntari, he had a brief chat with Jose Mourinho and was convinced Inter was the right club for him at that time.
