Moldova-based Ghanaian midfielder, Edmund Addo has disclosed that he considered becoming a mechanic after frustrations at the early stages of his career.

Addo revealed during an interview with an agency for trials abroad, every player he went there with had their time with the panel apart from him.

In an interview with the Ghana Football Association media, Addo said he was frustrated and immediately called one of his boss who was a mechanic to consider a change in work.

"Three or four years ago, back then, we went for an interview with this traveling agency and they picked me for that. We were about 14 players and everybody was interviewed except me and when I asked why they said they were done," he started.
"So I called one of my bosses called Don, he always takes me out and he is into mechanic, so I told him I want to join him and that I have stopped football," he added.
"I was frustrated because they interviewed everyone and I was the only one left."

In a dramatic twist, the 21-year-old did not give and within a few years he found himself playing against the likes of Toni Kroos and Casimero in the UEFA Champions League.

Addo joined Sheriff Tiraspol in the summer transfer window and has since been a mainstay in the team.

He is expected to play a key role for the Black Stars at the Africa Cup of Nations this January.

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that, Ghanaian footballer, Edmund Addo, has made history after playing a part in Moldovan club, Sheriff Tirapsol's first ever appearance in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

The 21-year-old featured as Sheriff Tirapsol defeated Croatian giants, Dinamo Zagreb, 3-0 on aggregate to secure qualification.

In photos posted on Twitter by Arthur Legacy, sighted by YEN.com.gh, the youngster is seen jubilating with teammates after their historic achievement.
