Kudus was not at his best during the two games but his free kick led to the winner in the first leg in Kumasi.

“We are fortunate to have Mohammed Kudus; we all know that. We’ve actually been planning on a few positions and in the last few games, he’s been at the right-hand side,” Hughton told SuperSport, as quoted by Pulse.

Hughton added that whether Kudus was coming off the bench or in a starting role, there was a lot of flexibility in the way he could be played.

“I think he is a player who can play in the attacking midfield. If he could play on either flank, I think he would be better on the right than the left. He is also playing in a strong team that generally has more possession than the opposition.”

The Black Stars were held in Angola to a 1-1 draw and will now need a point in their next game to qualify for the 2023 AFCON tournament in the Ivory Coast.

Kudus prevents fan being embarassed

In related coverage, Sports Brief reported on Kudus producing a classy moment after Ghana's game against Angola in Kumasi on Thursday.

The Ajax star played a key role as the Black Stars left it late to defeat the Palancas Negras and close in on qualification for AFCON 2023.

Antoine Semenyo scored the only goal late in injury time, smashing home after some scrappy Angolan defending to keep Ghana's hopes alive.

Kudus responds to United interest

Kudus also revealed his ambitions with Ajax Amsterdam, despite interest from English Premier League giants, Manchester United.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move to Old Trafford following his outstanding displays in the Eredivisie this season.

Kudus has scored 18 goals in all competitions for the Dutch giants this term, making him highly sought-after, Sports Brief has reported.
