Abdul Fatawu Issahaku repeated his feat in Algeria in Kumasi as the Black Meteors sealed qualification to the AFCON U23 after defeating the North Africans.

The Sporting Lisbon winger connected a cross from Ernest Nuamah to score the only goal as the Black Meteors secured a 2-1 aggregate win after two legs.

The Black Meteors got off to a great start after the Sporting Lisbon winger shook the crossbar with a thunderous strike.

The Algerians first threat came through Abdul Kareem who got a save from Danlad Ibrahim after a good freekick.

Issahaku responded few minutes later with an equally well-taken freekick.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh was then sent through by the Sporting attacker, but the Black Meteors captain’s pass to Nuamah was intercepted.

Issahaku then pulled a great save from the Algeria goalkeeper moments later.

Just before half time, Algeria tested Ghana goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim following an expertly taken corner kick.

The Black Meteors returned from the breat just like they began the first half with Nuamah and Abass Samari coming close.

Barnieh outpowered his marker moments later but his effort was blocked in the Algerian box.

Issahaku tried another audacious strike from his own half but his effort did not trouble the Algeria shot-stopper after the hour mark.

With ten minutes remaining captain Afriyie Barnieh was replaced by CFR Cluj forward Emmanuel Yeboah.

Nuamah came close to giving Ghana a second but brave goalkeeping kept Algeria in the game.

But the Black Meteors held on to qualify for the Africa U23 Cup of Nations to be hosted by Morocco in June this year.

Black Stars draw in Angola

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Osman Bukari needed only sixty seconds to make an impact after scoring immediately following his introduction in the game against Angola.

The Black Stars conceded early in the second half after Reading striker Lucas Joao scored from the penalty spot.

The hosts started the game brightly with midfielder Fredy testing Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi from long range after just eight minutes.
