“Coaches cannot guarantee a trophy. There is no one, because we [coaches] cannot guarantee anything,” Hughton said at his unveiling, as quoted by Pulse.
“What we can guarantee is we will work as hard as we can to put a team together; to create the right tactics, the right mentality, the right personnel to put ourselves in the best position to do that. And the first that comes is qualification, so we will work as hard as we can.”

He will begin work on Monday, with the players expected to assemble in Kumasi for the first training session.

Ghana will host Angola on Thursday for the first of two matches in Group E.

Hughton unveiled as Ghana coach

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Chris Hughton has been unveiled as the new coach of Ghana's senior national team, the Black Stars.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion manager will be in charge of the Black Stars until December 2024.

At a short ceremony in Kumasi, Hughton shared his excitement and hopes to lead the four-time African champions back to their glory days.

Paintsil advises GFA on Hughton's appointment

John Paintsil has suggested the inclusion of ex-Black Stars coach, Kwesi Appiah to the technical team of Ghana's national side, following the appointment of Chris Hughton.

The English manager replaced Otto Addo as Ghana's head coach after the ex-Dortmund player resigned at the end of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Paintsil, who played at two World Cups with the Black Stars, believes Hughton needs someone who understands the Ghanaian football culture if he is to succeed.
