Nigerian music superstar, Patoranking has paid an emotional tribute to friend and former Ghana international, Christian Atsu.

The Afrobeats and reggae-dancehall singer is one of the high ranking personalities that made it to the one-week observation of the player in Accra.

Atsu tragically died following a devastating earthquake in Turkey on February 6, 2023, which claimed the lives of over 50,000 people.

The 31-year-old was trapped under rubble for 12 days before he was confirmed dead on February 18, 2023. His body has since been flown to Ghana ahead of his final funeral and burial rites.

In a video posted on social media, Patoranking showed up as his one week memorial to pay his respects.

"Christian Atsu. Goodbye my friend," he also wrote on Twitter.

The Twasam family have announced that Atsu's final funeral will be held at the forecourt of the State House in Accra on March 17, 2023.

Atsu enjoyed a successful career, where he played for the likes of FC Porto, Chelsea and Newcastle United. He made 65 appearances for the Black Stars, scoring nine goals.

His last involvement in football was scoring the winner in Hatayspor's 1-0 win over Kasimpasa on February 5, 2023, hours before disaster struck.

Muntari weeps at Atsu's one-week observation

Sports Brief earlier reported that former Ghana international, Sulley Muntari was left in tears as he arrived at the one-week observation of the later Christian Atsu.

Muntari had to be consoled by former Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingson as he struggled to hide his emotions.

Several ex-footballers and teammates of the former Chelsea and Newcastle United winger flooded the Ajiringanor school park to pay respects to Atsu before his final funeral on March 17, 2023.

Partey dedicates win to Atsu

Ghana international Thomas Partey sparked life into Arsenal after scoring in the Gunners' comeback win over AFC Bournemouth at the Emirates.

Partey dedicated his goal and the win to late Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu.

Atsu tragically passed away last month following the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria, which claimed over 50,000 lives.
