The football world is coming to terms with the death of Christian Atsu.

The Ghanaian national team player was discovered in the rubble of the earthquake that struck Turkey, in Antakya. It was initially believed that he was found alive earlier, but that was a case of mistaken identity.

Respected South African coach Pitso Mosimane joined the mourning of the 32-year-old Atsu on social media.

The Al Ahli Saudi coach tweeted:

"May the Black Star Rest in Peace. Our heartfelt condolences to the family and everyone in Ghana."

John Terry leads Atsu tributes

Chelsea legend John Terry and teammates of Christian Atsu have flooded social media with tributes for the late winger.

Atsu was confirmed dead in the early hours of Saturday morning following a devastating earthquake in Turkey, which has claimed several lives.

The 31-year-old has been trapped under rubble for the past 12 days, but his lifeless body was pulled out of the wreckage on February 18, 2023.

Atsu paid for comedian's tuition

Talented Nigerian comedian, Craze Clown has revealed how late Ghana winger Christian Atsu paid off his tuition when he lost his father.

Atsu sadly passed away following a devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria which claimed the lives of over 40,000 people.

The Hatayspor forward was trapped under rubble for the past 12 days after the city of Hatay was badly destroyed by the disaster.

Christian Atsu took the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations by storm after bursting onto the scene as Ghana's version of Lionel Messi.

The nimble-footed player was not only Ghana's best player at the tournament but the Most Valuable Player at the end of the competition.

Atsu, who was then playing for Bournemouth on loan from Chelsea, played a key role as Ghana reached the final only to lose to Ivory Coast on penalties.
