The former Newcastle United and Chelsea player scored the winner in his last game for Hatayspor as they defeated Kasimpasa.

Few hours after the match, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit the city of Hatay where the player plies his trade. Atsu together with the club's Sporting Director Taner Savut were missing for days leading to increased rescue efforts in the apartment they were lodging.

Meanwhile, Atsu last played for the Black Stars of Ghana in 2019 at the Africa Cup of Nations. He had a temporal break from the team as he revealed he wanted to concentrate on club football.

The 31-year-old started his career in Ghana with Cheetah FC before moving to Porto in 2009, starting with the youth team before joining the senior side in 2011.

His explosive performances in the Primeira Liga earned him a move to English giants Chelsea. He spent most of his time on loan while being on the books of Chelsea.

Atsu moved to Newcastle United in 2017 before a brief spell in Saudi Arabia with Al Raed.
