Black Stars right back, Alidu Seidu has undergone a successful surgery after picking up an injury playing for French club Clermont Foot.

The defender suffered an injury during the game against Lille in Ligue 1 and is expected to be out for a month.

The 22-year-old will start rehabilitation immediately as he begins the journey to recovery.

"Alidu Seidu's knee operation went well. Next step for our warrior: rehabilitation starting next week," wrote the club on social media.

The defender shared his excitement on social media after going under the knife to correct his knee problem.

"Thank you Allah," he wrote on Twitter.

Seidu has been an integral member of Clermont Foot since joining the French outfit from JMG Academy. This season, the Ghanaian defender has made 20 Ligue 1 appearances.

He missed the game against Monaco over the weekend.

The versatile player was a member of Ghana's squad at the World Cup in Qatar, playing two matches as the Black Stars exited the tournament at group stage.

His impressive performances earned him a contract extension last summer.

Seidu reacts to World Cup exit

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that two days after Ghana's elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup, players of the national team have taken to various social media platforms to react.

While many shared their pride in representing the country, others were disappointed with the team's performance and have promised to bounce back strongly in future.

The Black Stars were booted out of the tournament after a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Uruguay in their final group game at Al Janoub.

Seidu named in TOTW

Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu has been named in the L’Equipe Ligue 1 team of the week.

The 21-year-old put up a monstrous performance at the heart of the defence as his side recorded a 2-0 away victory over Marseille at the Stade Velodromme.

The Ghanaian centre-back played the entirety of the match and had 42 touches, completed 24 passes, won four duels and made five clearances.
