Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew could be heading to Spain to join former manager Xavi at Barcelona, after leaving Qatari giants Al Sadd.

The 33-year-old and his club agreed to go their separate ways and his contract with the Qatari champions was terminated earlier this month.

In a thank you message, the former Marseille midfielder showed gratitude to Xavi, who brought him to Al Sadd.

Xavi responded to the post on Instagram, suggesting there had been a conversation between the two.

According to reports from Spain, Barcelona are in the market for a winger following an injury to France forward, Ousmane Dembele.

Ayew is seen as a likely candidate due to his relationship with the Barca manager.

The Ghanaian midfielder won the league and Emir Cup with Al Sadd in his first season. He also finished the campaign as the club's top scorer in the league.

Meanwhile, Ayew's former club Olympique Marseille are also reported to be interested in reuniting with the player.

The Ghanaian spent a season-and-a-half in the Gulf region after leaving English Championship side, Swansea City in 2021.

Andre Ayew thanks Al Sadd

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Black Stars captain, Ayew thanking Qatari champions Al Sadd for his season-and-a-half stay at the club.

The Ghana international mutually agreed to terminate his contract with the Wolves on January 29 this year.

In a statement posted on social media, the 33-year-old expressed gratitude as he wished his former club the best in the future.

Ayew spends time with Stonebwoy

Captain of Ghana's national team, Ayew spent time with Stonebwoy, following the reggae-dancehall superstar's arrival in Qatar for the FIFA Fan Festival.

The multiple-award winning Ghanaian musician thrilled fans at the Fan Festival in Doha at the conclusion of the 2022 World Cup.

Ayew took to social media to share photos of himself and the musician in the Middle East, before Stonebwoy took to the stage.
