Despite spending most of his time on loan while playing for Red Bull Salzburg, Mensah showed enormous quality.

Meanwhile, Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui is in the market for a cover to defender Hugo Bueno who has had to improvise as a left-back.

Mensah has been a key player for Auxerre this season, making nine Ligue 1 appearances in the ongoing campaign.

He previously played for Red Bull Salzburg, Vitoria Guimaraes, Zulte Waregem and Bordeaux.

While many shared their pride in representing the country, others were disappointed with the team's performance and have promised to bounce back strongly in future.

The Black Stars were booted out of the tournament after a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Uruguay in their final group game at Al Janoub.
