Ghanaian footballers have taken to social media to show their support for mercurial midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah following his retirement from football.

The former Juventus player announced his retirement after a glittering career in Europe. He retired at the age of 33.

Leading the tributes on social media, was former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan, and some of his former teammates.

"Great player by all standards. It was great to play with you bro. Enjoy your retirement bro, Kwadwo Asamoah," wrote Asamoah Gyan.

Former captain Stephen Appiah wrote: "Sharing the pitch with you was an absolute joy. Enjoy retirement bro, Kwadwo Asamoah."
"You served our country well, thanks for all the memories. Hope you’ll enjoy every minute of your retirement," added the Ghana Football Association.
Prince Tagoe also posted on Instagram: "You served our country well, thanks for all the memories. Hope you’ll enjoy every minute of your retirement."

Asamoah had a glittering career with the senior national team, playing 74 games and scoring four times for the Black Stars. He is fondly remembered for his starring role at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2010.

He spent most of his club career in Italy, playing for Udinese, Juventus, Inter Milan and Calgliari.

The 33-year-old is reportedly venturing into player agency after understudying Italian agent Federico Pastorello.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Ghana and Juventus midfielder is set to retire from football and become a football agent.

The 33-year-old enjoyed an illustrious career in Italy, where he played for Udinese, Juventus, Inter Milan and Cagliari.

And in a post on social media by his agent, Federico Pastorello, the multiple Serie A winner has decided to become a player's representative.
