Legendary Ghanaian forward, Asamoah Gyan, received a warm welcome in Eswatini as fans mobbed the ex-Black Stars captain following his arrival in the Southern African country.

The 36-year-old was in Eswatini over the weekend for an exhibition game as part of efforts to grow interest in football. Gyan scored in the game between African legends and Eswatini stars.

In a video posted on social media, Asamoah Gyan was surrounded by fans who wanted to catch a glimpse of the African World Cup star.

The former Black Stars captain has revealed his desire of playing at the 2022 FIFA World Cup despite being inactive for over a year.

However, a decision to send the former Sunderland forward to Qatar will depend on Ghana coach, Otto Addo.

Asamoah Gyan remains the African player with the most goals at the World Cup, having scored six goals at three tournaments.

The country's all-time leading scorer, with 51 goals from 109 international games, has been undergoing personal training to be fit in time for the World Cup.

Ghana, who are making a return to the World Cup, have been drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.

Asamoah Gyan feels underappreciated by Ghanaians

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, has expressed disappointment at the way he is treated by Ghanaians.

The country's all-time top scorer also holds the record as the most capped player for the senior national team.

However, Gyan feels he has not been celebrated enough despite all his achievements with the Black Stars.
