Experienced Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has sealed a season-long loan move to Belgium topflight side KAS Eupen in the summer transfer window.

The 32-year-old joins KAS Eupen from Chinese Super League side Shenzen FC for the 2022/23 season.

The club confirmed the arrival of the Ghanaian on their official website as he begins a new adventure in Belgium.

"The 70-time Ghanaian international Mubarak Wakaso will play for KAS Eupen until the end of this season. The 32-year-old midfielder is on loan to KAS Eupen from the Chinese first division club Shenzhen FC," wrote the club on their official website.

Mubarak Wakaso spent most of his career in Spain with La Liga sides Villareal, Espanyol and Deportivo Alaves.

KAS Eupen General Manager Christoph Henkel believes Mubarak Wakaso's experience will help the development of most of the club's young players.

"After signing a few young talents recently, we hired an internationally experienced player for our midfield in Mubarak Wakaso. He has played successfully in the top divisions of Spain, Scotland and China in recent years and will bring additional structure, stability and creativity to KAS Eupen's game in the Jupiler Pro League. We are convinced that our young players can develop even better alongside him. We look forward to working with Mubarak Wakaso and wish him a successful season with KAS Eupen," he said.

Wakaso has played over 70 games for the senior national team of Ghana.

Ghana defender Gideon Mensah joins French side Auxerre

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Gideon Mensah is returning to the French Ligue 1 after sealing a permanent move to AJ Auxerre in the summer transfer window.

The Ghana international signed a three-year deal to join Auxerre from Austrian giants Red Bull Stalzburg.

Auxerre confirmed the arrival of the left-back, expressing delight in securing the signature of the defender.
