Multiple award-winning Ghanaian musician, Stonebwoy, has backed Asamoah Gyan's assertion that he is not celebrated enough.

Asamoah Gyan, who holds the record of being Ghana's all-time top scorer has lamented over how he is treated by Ghanaians.

And in an interview with Hitz FM, Stonebwoy admitted the legendary footballer is not hailed enough by his own people.

“What Asamoah Gyan said is true,” Stonebwoy said on Accra-based Hitz FM as quoted by Pulse.

“I think we can do better at celebrating people who have worked so hard to put Ghana on the map. It’s really important that we have to just deliberately focus on making sure that we sing people’s praise and give them the flowers they deserve.”
“It’s not going to start in Asamoah Gyan’s time only – people before him who have done well for the country deserve to be celebrated too. It’s a mindset we need to adopt.”

Stonebwoy and the former Black Stars captain are close acquaintances, having released a hit record together in the past.

Meanwhile, Asamoah Gyan, who is yet to retire from the sport is hoping for one last dance with the Black Stars at the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

Asamoah Gyan is the African player with the most goals at the FIFA World Cup.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, has expressed disappointment at the way he is treated by Ghanaians.

The country's all-time top scorer also holds the record as the most capped player for the senior national team.

However, Gyan feels he has not been celebrated enough despite all his achievements with the Black Stars.
