Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu has finally made himself available to play for the Black Stars of Ghana.

The 23-year-old has been on a self-imposed exile from the national team after rejecting multiple approaches from the Ghana Football Association.

But according to Joy Sports, officials of the Ghana FA have been able to convince the tough-tackling defender to represent the Black Stars on international level.

This means Salisu could be available for the Black Stars in the next international window, which will involved some AFCON qualifiers as well as the FIFA World Cup.

He has been a revelation in the English Premier League this season, starring in 34 games for Southampton as they finished 15th on the table.

Meanwhile, former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan says players should be “treated fairly” following reports that Ghana is seeking to recruit new players for the 2022 World Cup.

According to the former Sunderland forward, players who played for the Black Stars during qualifiers show earn call-ups in the official team for the World Cup.

The Ghana Football Association has been in talks with certain players in an attempt to convince them to play for the Black Stars following Ghana's qualification to the Mundial.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu has been captured playing football with friends at the Madina AstroTurf in Madina.

Salisu has an outstanding season for his Premier League club last season, recording the most tackles in the English topflight.

Following the conclusion of the 2021/22 season, the 22-year-old is back and was seen at his usual best, casually playing with friends.
