Asamoah Gyan made a heroic return to his alma mater Accra Academy over the weekend to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of his year group.

The legendary Ghanaian striker was given a befitting homecoming as he reunited with former classmates at the premises of Accra Academy.

In a video posted on Twitter, the ex-Ghana captain was spotted as he energetically sang the school's anthem with the current students.

A lot of the current generation look up to him and are inspired to have him as an alumni. Gyan also spent time with his year group as they reminisced about their days on campus.

Asamoah Gyan left Ghana for Europe at a tender age due to his enormous talent, moving to Italy to join Udinese.

He later played for Modena, Stade Rennais, Sunderland and Kayserispor in a glittering career in Europe. In between those clubs were spells in Asia with Al Ain, Al Ahli and Shanghai SIPG.

He last played for Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities.

Asamoah Gyan shares coaching journey

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that legendary Ghanaian forward, Asamoah Gyan, has shared his excitement after beginning his UEFA License B coaching course in Wales.

The former Ghana captain met ex-Chelsea and France winger Florent Malouda, as they both started studies to acquire their coaching badges.

In a post on Twitter, Asamoah Gyan expressed delight in his new move as he eyes a coaching job after his career.

Asamoah Gyan defends Afena-Gyan's performance against Central African Republic

Former Ghana forward Asamoah Gyan has defended the performance of forward Felix Afena-Gyan despite his quite display against the Central African Republic.

The 19-year-old, who scored and provided an assist in the game against Madagascar in midweek, was largely absent in Sunday's match in Angola.

In a reply on Twitter, the legendary forward responded to a post referring the forward to bulk up if he is to play as a lone striker.
