Mohammed Polo has shockingly left out three of Ghana's most famous football icons from his all-time XI.

The 1978 Africa Cup of Nations winner left out three-time African player of the year Abedi Pele, and Ghana's all-time top scorer Asamoah Gyan.

Other notable exclusions include Hamburg and Leeds United legend Anthony Yeboah, 2001 UEFA Champions League winner Samuel Osei Kuffour and Chelsea legend Michael Essien.

Polo's team is captured in his yet-to-be-released biography: “Polo -The Magnificent -- Story of the Dribbling Magician”.

“The difficulty in naming Ghana’s all time best is that players excelled at different points in our football history. The list is endless, and this indicates that Ghana abounds in soccer talent,” he explained to the Graphic Sports.

In the book, the football legend explained that while Ghana has produced many great players over the years, he chose players such as himself, Robert Mensah, Dan Oppong, Akuetteh Armah, Seth Ampadu, Addo Odametey, Osei Kofi, Ibrahim Sunday, Abdul-Karim Razak, and Dan Owusu as his all-time first team.

The book, written by Nii Odai Anidaso Laryea, is set to be officially launched in Accra in the coming weeks.

Polo played youth football with Auroras in Accra before signing for Hearts of Oak. Along with Mama Acquah, Anas Seidu, Peter Lamptey and Robert Hammond, they were known as the “Fearsome Five” and formed the backbone of the team.

Mohammed Polo Wants GFA to Lure Cameroon Striker to Solve Perennial Goal Scoring Crisis for Black Stars

Sports Brief earlier reported that Ghanaian football great Mohammed Polo has urged the Ghana Football Association to convince Asante Kotoko striker Franck Mbella Etouga switch his nationality.

The Cameroonian import has taken the Ghanaian top-flight by storm with his goal scoring prowess and his fine performances for the Porcupine Warriors in his maiden season as seen him chalk some incredible feats.

With the young striker firing at all cylinders, Mohammed Polo, who won the 1978 AFCON with the Black Stars has suggested the GFA pursues him to switch his allegiance to Ghana.
