  • The 23-year-old pounced on a loose ball and confidently dribbled past the onrushing goalkeeper before slotting home into an empty net

Nantes winger Osman Bukari scored his maiden goal for Ghana against Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Bukari scored the third goal for the Black Stars with five minutes to end proceedings as he delivered a composed strike to ensure an emphatic victory for the home side.

The 23-year-old's goal came after Mohammed Kudus and Felix Afena-Gyan combined to give Black Stars a comfortable two-nil lead.

Bukari then put the icing on the cake after rounding off goalkeeper Nina Razakanirina to seal victory for the Black Stars.

It was his fifth appearance for the Black Stars, having made his debut against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2021.

He has been recalled by his club KAA Gent after a successful loan spell at French Ligue 1 club Nantes FC in the just ended 2021/22 season

The Black Stars would face the Central African Republic in four days time in the second group encounter of the 2023 AFCON qualifier.

Kudus, Afena-Gyan and Bukari Score as Ghana Whitewash Madagascar

Sports Brief earlier reported that youngsters Mohammed Kudus and Felix Afena-Gyan scored in quick succession before Osman Bukari netted late as Ghana made light work of Madagascar to start the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on a winning note.

The Black Stars got off to a bright start and should have broken the deadlock after three minutes when Jordan Ayew saw his low strike go inches wide.

Ten minutes later Fatawu Issahaku fired from outside the box and missed narrowly before combining with Afena-Gyan two minutes later, but the AS Roma forward's strike was deflected out for a corner kick.
