General captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan has sent a cryptic message on the back of Alfred Duncan's shock retirement from the national team.

Alfred Duncan caused shock reverberations in the Ghanaian football ecosystem with his decision to retire from international football at age 29.

His shock retirement, which was announced on Fiorentina's official website, has caused tongues waging at his decision.

Joining the bandwagon in reacting to Duncan's premature retirement, Asamoah Gyan took to social media to drop a cryptic message.

In a post on Twitter, sighted by Sports Brief, Asamoah Gyan reacted to the shocking news with a zipped mouth emoji.

Gyan, who has not played for the Black Stars since the 2019 AFCON, earlier lashed out at the technical handlers of the national team for excluding Majeed Ashimeru from the squad to face Nigeria in March.

Alfred Duncan announces retirement from international football

Joseph Alfred Duncan has announced his international retirement at the age of 29.

The former Inter Milan Academy graduate explained in a heartbreaking letter that he has been discriminated against and treated unfairly by the Ghana Football Association.

In a letter posted on the official website of Fiorentina, Alfred Duncan said his goodbyes to the Black Stars.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that legendary Ghanaian footballer Asamoah Gyan has weighed in on Ghana's 27-man squad released earlier today.

After several weeks of secrecy surrounding the announcement of the Black Stars squad to face the Super Eagles of Nigeria, coach Otto Addo belatedly released his squad on Tuesday morning.

Coach Addo's squad features four debutants as well as notable inclusions such as Partey and Amartey. However, Anderlecht attacker Majeed Ashimeru was the conspicuous absentee on the list.
