Highly-rated Bristol City forward Antoine Semenyo has received his debut call-up to the Black Stars as coach Otto Addo named a 33-man squad.

The 22-year-old striker missed out on Ghana's World Cup doubleheader in March due to injury but will have the opportunity to represent the West African nation in next month's qualifiers.

Semenyo hit a purple patch of form at the tail-end of the English Championship and his call-up to the Black Stars is expected to help address the goalscoring deficiency of the national team.

The four-time African champions host Madagascar at the Cape Coast Stadium on Wednesday, June 1 followed by an away fixture against the Central African Republic on Sunday, June 6 before heading to Japan for the Kirin Cup, a pre-World Cup tournament.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that the newly confirmed Coach Otto Addo-led four-man Black Stars technical team have announced a 33-man squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and the international friendlies.

Ghana will square off against Madagascar on June 1 before playing the Central Africa Republic four days later. The Black Stars will also be involved in the Kirin Cup tournament in Japan next month as part of preparations for the World Cup.

The four-time African champions will be welcoming the services of experienced midfielder Mubarak Wakaso, Kamaldeen Sulemana and Jonathan Mensah after the trio missed out on the World Cup qualifiers in March.
