Soon-to-be, Black Stars striker Antoine Semenyo has opened up on the superstition reports surrounding the national team.

Reports of the use of black magic in the Black Stars have gone rife with ex-footballers and connoisseurs of the game sharing their accounts of its practice in camp.

Owing to the growing reports about the practice of 'juju' in the Black Stars, Ghanaian players born in the diaspora are reportedly coy in committing their national team allegiance to the Black Stars but Bristol City forward Antoine Semenyo is proving to be an exception.

The red-hot England-born Ghanaian attacker Antoine Semenyo is unperturbed by the 'juju' reports ahead of his imminent call-up to the Black Stars for the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

"I want to play football and issues of juju don't matter to me as I just want to represent my country Ghana," he told Accra-based radio station Happy FM as quoted by Ghana Guardian.

The 22-year-old Bristol forward was named in coach Otto Addo's provisional squad to face Nigeria in the World Cup play-offs but sustained an injury which ruled him out of the doubleheader.

Since his return from injury, Semenyo has been in blistering form for the Robins, scoring a goal and setting up two goals in Bristol City's resounding win over Hull City last Saturday.

He has been involved in 20 goals for Bristol City this season, scoring on eight occasions and providing 12 assists and will be a great addition for the Black Stars ahead of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers, which begins this month.
