John Painstil, one of Ghana's most capped players, has finally broken his silence on the alleged use of black magic, popularly known as juju in camp during the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon 2012.

The former Fulham and Leicester City right-back disclosed that 'things happened' and he had to at a point intervene to calm down fears in camp.

In an interview with Ghana Web, the 40-year-old admitted the rumours of 'juju' in camp sparked fears among some players but he had talk his teammates down.

"Something happened in camp but I won't say that on air," he replied when asked about statement made by senior journalist Kwabena Yeboah.
"Some players believed some players were using juju in camp leading to talk, talk and shouting and I had to come in to address the issue. I told them there is no juju in football and if you see someone doing something, he is doing it for himself.
"At that time I was one of the seniors in camp and I had to calm them down."

The issue of 'juju' in camp were detailed by the then coach Goran Stevanovic after Ghana finished fourth at the tournament in Gabon.

Derek Boateng opens up on 'juju' in Black Stars camp

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng has revealed that there is the use of black magic popularly known as 'juju' in the camp of the Black Stars.

Boateng represented Ghana at various tournaments including two FIFA World Cups and the Africa Cup of Nations during his hay days.

The 38-year-old who was speaking on GTV Sports Plus' Saving the Passion show made some interesting revelations about what he saw during his time with the Black Stars especially at the Nations Cup in Gabon 2012.
