Black Stars Hold First Training in Kumasi Ahead of World Cup Play Off Against Nigeria

The senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars, held their first training session in Kumasi ahead of their gigantic World Cup play-off against Nigeria.

The team led by coach Otto Addo arrived in Kumasi on Tuesday afternoon and wasted no time training a few hours later as preparations continue for the big game.

In photos posted on Twitter, spotted by Sports Brief, the players took to Baba Yara Stadium for the first time in five years, with their last appearance at the stadium coming against Congo on September 1, 2017.

Arsenal's Thomas Partey, Leicester City defender Daniel Amartey and Ajax playmaker Mohammed Kudus all took part in the evening’s session.

Tuesday's training session was by head coach Otto Addo with support from his technical advisor Chris Hughton, assistant coaches Mas-Ud Didi Dramani and George Boateng as well goalkeepers’ trainer Richard Kingston.

The team is expected to two more training sessions on Wednesday and Thursday before the game on Friday night.

The Black Stars commenced camp in Accra on Monday evening with seven players present at the light training session.

Coach Otto Addo will face the media on Thursday to answers question on the team's preparation for the big game.

Ghana will engage the Super Eagles in the first leg on Friday March 25, before travelling to Abuja four days later for the second-leg.

The winner of the two-legged encounter will book one of Africa’s five slots for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar later this year.

The Black Stars will face the Super Eagles in a gigantic encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday with the second leg of the play-offs set to be played at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on March 29th.
