  • Asamoah Gyan blasted the technical team of the Black Stars for the omission of Majeed Ashimeru in the 27-man squad to face Nigeria
  • Samuel Kuffour feels Asamoah Gyan could have contacted the technical team rather than resorting to Social Media

Former Ghana international Samuel Osei Kuffour has described Asamoah Gyan’s ‘nonsense must stop’ statement over Majeed Ashimeru snub for the Nigeria clash as unfair.

Gyan took to Twitter to slam the technical team of the Black Stars for the omission of Ashimeru in the 27-man squad to face Nigeria.

The Anderlecht midfielder was the conspicuous absentee on the roster despite his fine form for his club in the Belgian Jupiler League.

Ashimeru's omission forced the former Sunderland striker to use an unprintable word on social media for the first time.

However, Bayern Munich legend, Kuffour, feels Gyan could have called contacted the Black Stars technical team for clarification rather than resorting to social media.

Kuffour told Kumasi-based Kessben FM as quoted by footballghana:.

“I think he has his personal view on certain players, I personally have to respect his decision as a human being but putting that aside, we have to also go to the coaches, they have monitored every player but when you look at the statistics, how many matches has Majeed Ashimeru played.”
“I believe Asamoah Gyan is part of Ghana, he has captained this team and the little advise I have him is that, if something like this happen, maybe he can call one or two people but if you put on social media to use nonsense, I don’t think its fair.”

Asamoah Gyan Slams Black Stars Technical Team For Ashimeru's Absence

Sports Brief earlier reported that legendary Ghanaian footballer Asamoah Gyan has weighed in on Ghana's 27-man squad released earlier today.

After several weeks of secrecy surrounding the announcement of the Black Stars squad to face the Super Eagles of Nigeria, coach Otto Addo belatedly released his squad on Tuesday morning.

Coach Addo's squad features four debutants as well as notable inclusions such as Partey and Amartey. However, Anderlecht attacker Majeed Ashimeru was the conspicuous absentee on the list.
