Outspoken former Ghana international, Charles Taylor has poured cold water on the clarion call for Sulley Muntari to be named in the Black Stars squad ahead of the cliffhanger against Nigeria.

Muntari, 37, received plaudits for his performance in the biggest fixture on the Ghanaian football calendar - Super Clash - where he helped Hearts of Oak record a goalless draw against Kotoko.

The experienced midfielder's name has popped up as a suggestion by many followers of the game who want him in Ghana's crucial World Cup clash against their West African rivals.

However, Charles Taylor, who made a name for himself on the local terrain, has shot down those claims suggesting his current form will not merit a call-up to the national team.

"Sulley Muntari's current form is not up to the standard of Black Stars," Taylor told Angel TV. A forthright Taylor stressed: "He [Muntari] can't play."

Charles suggested Sulley should be given enough time to build on his fitness and reach full fitness before recommending him for the Black Stars.

"Let's give him time to play and get full fitness." He ended.

Meanwhile, Pitso Mosimane, one of the best coaches on the continent, has praised former AC Milan and Inter star Sulley Muntari for making a return to the Ghana Premier League.

Sulley Aliu Muntari joined Accra Hearts of Oak in the transfer window on a year deal after an illustrious career in Europe.
